Opeaus' Observations: 7 March 2023
People think they do not have to learn, because there is so much information available. But knowledge is about more than just possessing information. And only the wise move fast enough...
Today is 2023’s ‘Big One’ (at least in astrological terms), we are now a week into one of the most pivotal months of this year - March.
I have mentioned it already several times now, that March 2023 is going to deliver some of the most significant cosmic events we will see year.
Today, Saturn and Pisces conjoin in the sky above – meaning that the practical and the imaginative, the tangible and intangible, the boundless and the bounded, our realities and dreams, will all be crashing together as Saturn plunges into the watery depths of Pisces for the first time since the late 1990’s.
But first, lets review how we got to today, what astrological activity brought us here, and what have the stars been setting the stage for…
Well, the first notable event of the year 2023 occurred on 22 January (with Uranus coming out of retrograde), finally, all the planets commenced moving direct (that is, no planets were retrograde), and everything started to feel like it was aligning, finally moving forwards.
During retrograde periods, planets appear to move backwards, against the flow, opposite to the normal direction of travel. As such, these times are often associated with difficult periods (most people these days are aware of Mercury retrogrades, but this principle applies to all the planets). One planet in particular, has spent an inordinately long time retrograde within one sign – that planet is ‘Mars’.
This January past, Mars finally went direct in Gemini (where he has been lingering for some time). Usually, Mars shifts signs every six weeks or so, but this time his transit through our Air sign of ‘Motion’ had to be endured for several months (Mars transited into Gemini on 20 August last year, and his retrograde period started on 30 October, with the ‘God of War’ finally due to transit out of Gemini and into Cancer (our homes, comforts, and security) on 25 March). Â
This retrograde period (not to mention the long sojourn within Gemini) has brought with it a feeling that all of our ideas and thoughts (in fact most of the information the we consume/are fed), have been subject to constant change and alterations, as if our very thoughts themselves have been in flux.
With Mars no longer retrograde we can start to sever the ties, and binds that we have built around all the lies within our heads, all those false stories and tall tales we have created/built up in our minds to help deal with, and to also understand, the circumstances we have all faced over these recent years.
We are now in a position to cease our polarized thinking and start to clarify things. When the passionate, creative nature of Mars is transiting the sign that is said to rule our thoughts we are often presented with a chaotic environment, something akin to a whirlwind or whirlpool, whereby we are sucked out of our bodies and into our minds – which is not ideal, as our thoughts are not meant to rule our lives, even though they create such, and losing our minds can be rather detrimental.
We were invited by Mars to retrace our steps during this period. To re-assess and evaluate what we accept as ‘Truth’, to acknowledge our own beliefs and affirm our own opinions on matters, so that we can control/master them, rather than finding ourselves buffeted along in a state of confusion, opposition, and adversarial affront to the ideas of ‘others’. A time to cement exactly what we do believe in, and actually support in this world. For some of us, this is exactly what this time has achieved, for others they have been cast even further adrift in the chaos of life, and must now seek the shore.
With Mars going direct on 13 January, and with his looming transit out of Gemini into Cancer on 25 March, we can start to see where the assertive energies of Mars are going to be directed and shift our minds from mental overdrive towards learning and action. We are now free from any blockages and are able to seize the day, we can experiencing an awakening, with the burst of energy created by all the planets moving in the same direction providing impetus, and focus to our goals. We have a unique period now (until the Mercury retrograde on 21 April 2023), to tap into this energy and make it count.
There were important lessons to be learnt during this retrograde period – were you paying attention?
And more importantly, what action do you feel is now required from those learnt lessons in order to move forward?
The second event(s) bringing us up to today have been this year’s Full Moons. We started with the ‘Wolf’ Moon on 6 January in Cancer, followed by the ‘Snow’ Moon on 5 February in Leo.
That first Full Moon of 2023 was an emotional one for all of us (even if we didn’t realise it at the time), what with the funeral of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI the day before (not that I was personally emotional at this one, good riddance I say, but many people around the world mourned); another shooting in a school in America, this time by a teacher at Richneck Elementary School in Newport, Virginia; Putin trying to call a truce in Ukraine over that weekend, but once again Zelensky (probably on the orders of his handlers) refused to take part (instead sending the Azov Regiment to Israel, to help with the whitewashing of their crimes by the masters of such); whilst Israel attacked Damascus Airport in Syria, and Netanyahu declared Jewish Supremacy as Israeli state policy (as if we didn’t already know that after 70 years of crimes); meanwhile the British Daily Mail ran an article about former US intelligence agents working across Silicon Valley censoring (or should that be erasing) ‘misinformation’ (again telling us what we already knew, but it’s nice to get the affirmation).
The Wolf Moon certainly illuminated the wolves in sheep’s clothing we are constantly confronted with today, once more highlighting their contrary objectives (where life is concerned), from those of the common ‘Man’ across this Earth.
The second Full Moon of the year was no less emotional (or eventful – at least during the days surrounding it) than the first, with the Chinese Surveillance Balloon shoot down over the USA the day before (on 4 February 2023); the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment and intentional burn off the previous day (3 February 2023); and the powerful earthquake/HAARP attack striking Syria and Turkey the day after (6 February 2023).
On the day of the Full Moon, British press were reporting about how the government were lying about NHS strike negotiations (a government lying, now that was the shock of the month), resulting in UK medical workers staging their largest strike in the history of the NHS; and surprise, surprise there was another shooting, with one dead and three wounded in America, near Milwaukee (will there ever be a day when there isn’t needless death in America?).
The Snow Moon created a blizzard of media excitement and propaganda over a number of significant events, that were not as they initially seemed, now that the snow blindness has passed, and we can see clearly again.
As so, that brings us back to today (the 7 March 2023), with the ‘Worm’ Moon in Virgo, and the inevitable and imminent arrival of Spring on the horizon. As of today, some ‘Virgo’ energy is starting to worm its way into our consciousness, telling all of us to get our shit together, as things are going to start coming to a head.
It’s time to clear out all the clutter, get rid of the things that are holding us back or keeping us down, and let go of all the things that no longer serve us.
We have been out of balance for sometime recently, and now it is time for us to find our centre. It is time to turn inwards, and allow our needs and desires to be fulfilled, or at least begin to identify what dreams can be fulfilled, and what cannot.
We are being asked to connect to a higher spiritual guidance. But in order to do so, we need to remove some obstacles first, address the blockages, and be patient. Because this period is going to be all about patience, as our thoughts come together and start to make sense out of things – because not everything we see or sense these days is true (or even real).
Throughout my life I have come to expect things in three’s. And this is true in respect of today’s Full Moon, which is particularly aligned with ‘Uranus’, meaning change is likely to take place which will aid us all in evolving a positive direction for the future (even if events initially leaves us breathless and surprised).
Today's Full Moon also comes into conflict with ‘Mars’, which could increase impulsiveness, heated passions, and anger, all of which need to be kept in checked (watch to see how this manifests itself on the world stage).
Meanwhile, the Full Moon is also opposing ‘Mercury’, which could result in a surge of mental and emotional energy which we might all have to navigate – watch out today, particularly for feelings of being overwhelmed. But fear not, they will pass…
Keep an eye on today's events (and over the next couple of days), as we can expect to see some revelations (and positive/unexpected developments), around the situations we experienced during the last two Full Moon’s of this year. As well as events that will bring to light Saturn's (as well as nefarious elements on Earth) activities over the past few years.
Like the bumbling ex-UK Health Secretary's leaked communications about the ‘handling’ of Covid in the days before today's Full Moon…
Which brings us back to today’s big astrological event – Saturn in Pisces.
Roughly an hour after today’s Full Moon, Saturn enters ‘Pisces’, marking the conclusion of his journey through Aquarius that started in 2020 (and the first time that he has not been in a sign that he rules since 2017).
The next three years (as that is how long ‘Saturn’ spends in each sign) are going to see a reduction of his stern, cold, constricting energies. Which we have gotten so used to over the course of the past half a decade.
As the ‘Lord of Karma’, Saturn’s transit through Pisces is going to stir up a lot of karmic lessons that we all need to learn and grow from (and that is going to be intensified today with the Full Moon, marking a stunning entrance (at least in terms of timing), by Saturn).
The days ahead will be marked by this very ‘spiritual’ transit, that will highlight the urgent need to go with the flow, and let go. Today is the start of a new astrological journey, and a new direction for all of us – from today onwards (and for the next three years) we will all be living in a sort of catalyst of spiritual and emotional growth.
Things in our lives that we might have once thought were unrealistic, or even impossible, can now become real (for good and ill). It is time for us all to become highly intentional with our thoughts, the words we utilise, and the actions we take, for when Saturn leaves one sign and enters another, he always leaves a little karmic reward, so pay attention and watch out for them today, and over the next few days as Saturn settles into Pisces.
Since 2017 Saturn has been able to live his best life (while transiting through Capricorn and then Aquarius), where he has been able to control and restrict things and has been safe in these signs with little opposition.
But today all that changes. Unlike Capricorn or Aquarius, Pisces has little interest (or regard) for rules, schedules, appointments, or being organised and structured. It is time for Saturn to meet his opposite. Saturn is cold and dry, whilst Pisces is watery and emotional. Saturn is strict, whilst Pisces is soft. Saturn subtracts, whilst Pisces provides addition (thanks to the fact that ‘Jupiter’ rules over the fishes).
During 2021, Jupiter spent nearly 12 months in Saturn-ruled Aquarius (and we all know how well 2021 went), where Jupiter (like the rest of us) was locked down and powerless. But in 2022, Jupiter moved into Pisces and with his liberation (return to his home sign) came expansion, and unfortunately excess (as evidenced by runaway inflation, corporate profits, and political cronyism).
So, the question on every astrologer’s lips today is – will Saturn pop the bubble of excess that Jupiter initiated?
He will definitely try, for that is his nature. But, just as Jupiter was weakened in Aquarius during 2021, so too is Saturn going to be weakened through 2023 and beyond (until 14 February 2026, baring retrograde periods). So, what can we expect from Saturn’s transit today, and for the days, weeks, and months ahead?
Firstly, we will probably experience weaker boundaries. We may find it harder to establish adequate distance from people and we potentially could be subject to forming intense (even inappropriate) attachments with people (and ideas). Pisces may produce too much bonding, and this will lead to feelings of emotional suffocation by others (or indeed incidents of us being the suffocating party). With Saturn’s debilitated frustration in Pisces, we could also see a rise in issues and politics related to water. Who has access and who does not? Is water a right or a privilege? What are we going to do about all the migration across water routes?
We could even see an increase in watery events – such as more storms and flooding (water breaking its boundaries). We certainly can expect the continued confusion and obfuscation over what is real and what is not, as Saturn will try to regulate and control, but will have great difficulty in doing so within Pisces, who will counter such with mystification and spiritual insight.
In a case of cosmic irony, Saturn will actually add structure, discipline and direction to seekers of the spiritual during this transit and will aid in giving shape to creative processes and outputs. This then is the silver-lining, and we can expect the next couple of years to get more and more surreal as Pisces resists Saturn’s impulse for stricture.
The Saturn transit into Pisces is only one of the astrological events we will see unfold during this month, and although a big event, it is not actually the biggest astrological event we will experience during March 2023.
I have mentioned before the cycles and astrological alignments we face this year, and over the years ahead (please see: ‘The Astrological Significance of Uranus’ and ‘The emerging Trans-Saturnian Times’ for more information).
Hot on the heels of Saturn, we have a portal of healing energy unlocked as Jupiter and ‘Chiron’ (our wounded healer from Greek mythology) align in Aries on 12 March.
Jupiter has been soaring through fiery ‘Aries’ since 20 December last year, and he has been amplifying our innate fire, passions, and courage. He has been inspiring us to rally behind our desires and beliefs, to show the world our true power and purpose.
You have probably noticed that your confidence, motivation and luck have been improved since the end of last year, that faith in yourself has increased, and that you now find you have the strength to reinvent yourself (and your future) instead of falling into the same tired comfort zones we all retreat to in the face of life.
This is a time for new leaders to emerge, new pioneers. People with fiery temperaments and bold actions, who have the ability to enchant and sway others, and use higher vibrations of energy to become masters of our shared destiny.
On 12 March our powerful, benevolent ruler (Jupiter) will combine his energies with the wise and experienced healer (Chiron), creating an immensely powerful burst of energy directed towards our healing and personal growth. The effects of this alignment started to be felt from 23 February, and will remain in force until 29 March.
Their alignment in Aries shines a light on our lives, illuminating all the areas that we need to pay attention to if we are ever going to grow. The last time we had such a conjunction was in 2009 (in Aquarius). This time round, with the conjunction in ‘Aries’, we face a focus on new beginnings, self-assertiveness, and healing that enables us to take action.
Welcome to your Chiron wound. The wound that we all carry with us is the wound of ‘being’, of being alive and being human. A wound that is embedded in our genes, engineered into us if you will. It is the wound that we all need to reconcile, the paradox of our existence and the lesson of embracing both our human and our divine nature. It is a wound that reminds us of who/what we are, and Jupiter conjunct Chiron is our opportunity to heal that wound and find deeper meaning and purpose to our existence.
This is not a pain free process, as this transit and conjunction is asking us to dig deep into the wound until we find that deeper meaning, that initial cause of the wound. This will probably require some soul searching in relation to our sense of identity and self-worth, because we are being tasked with questioning our beliefs, values, and goals in order to explore what we need to overcome within ourselves, and identify what has been holding us back.
When we combine this with today’s Full Moon and transit of Saturn into Pisces, we can see that all astrological roads are leading in the same direction – to our identification of that which is preventing us from being our true selves, to the removal/healing of generational wounds on our collective psyche, and the obtaining of clarity and meaning in/to our lives.
This is a time of self-discovery, that if utilised correctly, will lead to emerging from the experience more robust, self-aware, and filled with determination to face all the challenges ahead with resilience and bravery.
It may be worth reflecting on what was happened in your life 14 years ago (in 2009), and identify how you have grown and evolved since then, and whether there are any lingering wounds or crutches that you are carrying from this time that need healing or casting aside.
As if the above was not enough for one month, we have a triple conjunction between the Sun, Neptune, and Mercury over 15-16 March (which is also occurring within Pisces). This will bring with it another significant rise in Piscean energy, accompanied by the usual Piscean fog (made thicker and more mystical by Neptune).
This will potentially be a short period of indecision/confusion (particularly in relation to choices and what the best course of action to take is), so be aware of this. It will also bring the further dissolving of boundaries (as if Saturn in Pisces wasn’t causing enough of that), and will leave us all susceptible to the energies of others (so mark this time, and beware over this period).
On the flip side (for Pisces is all about the flip flop), this will be a fantastic period for spiritual exploration and will provide a massive creative boost, as long as we go with the flow and allow our imaginations to wander free. The planets are guiding us towards spiritual development and growth through March 2023, so make sure you pay attention and allow yourselves to fly free from this material reality a little bit.
On 17 March ‘Venus’ (in Aries) will be square ‘Pluto’ (in Capricorn), which will be the very last alignment Pluto will make before it ends its near decades-long journey through Capricorn. Pluto and Venus will trigger all sorts of relationship issues, highlighting where there are power struggles (which could prove very interesting).
These two planets have been highly active since the start of 2023, and if you have been experiencing issues in your relationships (which appear to be prevalent on the world stage) then this alignment is going to bring either some deepening of the story or potential closure.
Time to review our subconscious behaviour, objectively look within ourselves (see a theme here) and find a way to transform our hearts and learned behaviour for the better. It will be informative to see how this one will play out, especially given the other astrological events described above, and the impact they will have on all our conscious and subconscious thoughts and activities…
On 20 March the astrological New Year arrives as the Sun transits into ‘Aries’, marking the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. This is another incredible time to initiate something new, to start new endeavours, and anything commenced on this day will be imbued with the raw energy of the sign of the Ram, and the exuberance of Spring.
Any new direction (job, project, path) will also be activated by ‘Mercury’ and ‘Mars’ meeting at 0 degrees of Aries, marking another rare and incredibly fortunate time to initiate something new. Be watchful around this time, as we well know that world actors utilise astrology almost religiously, and there will definitely be those who intend to utilise this day to start new projects and ideas, that may not mesh with our own goals, or the journey we are all being forced to take through March 2023.
The very next day (21 March) we have the New Moon (which will amplify the aforementioned energies, as this New Moon also occurs in ‘Aries’). This is another powerful energy directed towards new beginnings, and earthly manifestation.
I task you all to utilise this positive cosmic energy to call what you desire and wish to create for yourself moving forward, to plant the seeds of a better you, and a better life. Pay special attention to the themes that arise or brew during this New Moon period as the next New Moon in April will be a solar eclipse in ‘Aries’, so anything you learn or discover this time around will be returned to, with additional insights when the eclipse peaks next month.
Three days after the equinox we will experience the rarest of shifts, and the biggest event of March 2023 (if not the year), as Pluto dips into Aquarius.
On 23 March ‘Pluto’ will commence a short journey within Aquarius (until 11 June, when she goes retrograde back into Capricorn), before returning for the long haul on 20 January 2024. This will set off a chain reaction of events that will continue to unfold over the coming two decades.
This is going to be a sort of test, before the main journey starting next year. Whatever happens during this period will provide us with very strong clues as to what we will face ahead over the coming decade. Pluto tasks herself with exposing all of our collective shadow, unearthing what is required to reinvent ourselves, letting go of the old, and transforming into the new. We can expect this unearthing of shadows to hit upon our association with revolution, and the human collective.
Pluto will be wrapping up the lessons she learnt during her journey through ‘Capricorn’, and turning her focus towards our community, independence, and also towards all things related to ‘technology’. The commencement of a period of coming together, and an opportunity to create real, tangible change (hopefully for the greater good).
Expect issues such as human rights to come to the fore, because whilst she was transiting through Capricorn the energies produced were self-serving, helping us transform from the inside out (and not always positively) in relation to our ‘boundaries’, feelings of security and stability, our finances, and to whom and for what we choose to give our power and support.
Now, within the electrical, communal, but utilitarian ‘Aquarian’ energy, Pluto is going to be bringing change for the betterment of society (not just the self), embracing systemic transformation (out with the old and in with the new), whilst being more empathetic and mindful of others, through embracing the collective and the future.
I think this will be the big theme over the coming months, and decade – the realisation that we cannot change unless we all step together, and work together for the common good, rather than selfish, self-centered goals. This is what ‘Aquarius’ will be asking of us all.
‘Pluto’ provides us with incredible (and profound) growth, and tremendous opportunities for renewal and new beginnings (see the main theme here), as well as both spiritual and financial abundance.
However, she also has a negative side, and her energies can lead to obsession, domination, tyrannical control (with all the associated power struggles such entails), victimization, war and death. And as such, all of the themes that Aquarius rules will experience upheaval during this transit – so expect issues to emerge in relation to our concepts and beliefs regarding social organisations, civil rights, humanitarianism, the internet and social media, equality, exploration, and potentially even astrology.
Pluto is all about revolution and big changes in society, and that is what March 2023 is setting the stage for. All the astrological cosmic energies are currently focused on new beginnings and learning from the past, all in preparation for the transformations to come. And March isn’t finished with the movement of Pluto into Aquarius.
As noted above, on 25 March ‘Mars’ moves into Cancer (and we could see an increase in the beating of war drums at home, and abroad, made more so by the influence of Saturn in Pisces), and then on 30 March ‘Venus’ is conjunct with ‘Uranus’ in Taurus. This will be a brief period of radical love, and a time to look after ourselves; nurture yourself, and stay open to all possibilities of the heart at the end of this month.
We start March with Saturn and end with Uranus, which is appropriate, as we are also nearing the completion of the waning square period of their cyclic dance, moving into the closing stages of their current cycle (and setting the stage for 2026 and beyond).
So, be aware of and utilise these cosmic energies during the month of ‘March’, and emerge healed, and dedicated to creating something new, with new ways of thinking and being, and a new way of living. Because nothing stands still, everything is constantly changing, and those that use the power of the planets (as we know many do on this Earth), will be highly active this month, so don’t be left behind.
Be wise, and utilise this information for the betterment of yourself and the whole of humanity. We create this reality, and the planets and stars are our guides. In a universe of possibilities, let's manifest change, let's manifest a new beginning, and let's birth new ways of being and living, as we start to transform ourselves and this life…
Footnote:
For context to what the Astrological shifts and Cosmic events portent this March, and beyond, then look no further than a glimpse at the leaked British MP Matt Hancock messages that a well known British journalist leaked on twitter.
An admission?
An unveiling of that which was hidden, but known?
The days ahead may be revealing for some people, and it is not going to be comfortable for those who prefer their lives to remain in the shadows…
Seraphim,
Thanks for your insight in regards to these events. I don't think anyone who seriously studies this reality can honestly conclude that the movement of the Cosmos is independent of the world of mankind.
A shift in ages has been the focus of certain astrological camps for decades now, and I do see more than a little evidence to support this perspective.
Such a shift seems to be hinted at in this piece.
Personally, I don't find that most of mankind is capable of making the necessary transition, and if we were honest, this has been the case with every closing of the age. The nature of this alchemical mix is fascinating. Well, we will trod this road willingly, or be dragged down it kicking and screaming. It seems the latter is the choice for the privileged in this milieu.
May you live in interesting times, as they say.
MK

Joke aside, the hardest thing in your life, anybody's life is to change their ways...but when the transformation is done then all magically falls in place almost with no effort.
